GREEN BUILDING

GREEN BUILDING

BUILDING THE FUTURE

Since the 90s, EFTCG has promoted sustainable building through product development, production, and on-site project management. In 2007, we co-founded the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and, a year later, established an internal department for Green Building. EFTCG has since taken on more than 500 green projects and implemented them internationally, many in the framework of a building certification . We have become one of the leading specialists for sustainable building and would be delighted to assist you in your green building project.

As a product supplier and general contractor, we work on new constructions and EXISTING STRUCTURES of every type of building: INTERIOR FIT-OUTS, BUILDING ENVELOPES, INSULATION TECHNOLOGY, and more.
With green building experts in every product division, we can ensure that our clients have our consistent support, from the initial assessment of the task to the final documentation of completed work.

OUR GREEN BUILDING STATEMENT
For us, implementing projects in a sustainable manner means to act ecologically, socially and economically. This is how we can best realise the future-focused ideas of our customers as a manufacturer of building products and construction specialist. Within the framework of our quality, energy and environment management, we align our processes with the goal to continually minimise energy and resource consumption and take into account the impact that our constructions have on man and nature.

In developing high-quality technical products, we accordingly think in closed circuits, which ensures that no unnecessary waste is produced. We support the goals for your building project, help you obtain building certifications, and ensure a healthier environment for building occupants.

CRADLE TO CRADLE

PRODUCTS WITHOUT WASTE

Eftcg products have always been designed to fulfil their intended tasks, and beyond that, to be especially durable and resource-efficient. Now we are even going one step further. By following the Cradle to Cradle® principle, we can consider the entire life cycle of products and their components. Our goal is to avoid waste from the very beginning, meaning that products are designed in a way that they can serve as raw materials for the next generation of the same product – a closed technical cycle.
Although this may sound simple, it is actually a challenge for complex system products which contain many different components made from all kinds of materials.

Thanks to continuous efforts in research and development, Eftcg has laid the foundations for continuous manufacture. NORTEC is its pioneering product. The carrier panel for this raised floor is produced from FGD gypsum, processed water, and cellulose fibres at the Eftcg facility in Dettelbach, Germany. Building on the knowledge gained from a Life-Cycle Assessment according to ISO 14040/44 and the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) according to ISO 14025, NORTEC could be further enhanced to be awarded the Cradle to Cradle® Silver certificate as the first system floor worldwide.

BUILDING CERTIFICATION SYSTEMS

GOOD ADVICE FOR GREEN BUILDINGS

Eftcg's teams of in-house experts, e. g. DGNB Consultant and LEED Green Associate, provide professional support from the planning stage to certification. We are able to carry out all green building management processes. In doing so, we can keep expensive and time-consuming interfaces to a minimum.

Are you undecided as to whether you need to certify your building and, if so, to what extent? Our PreCheck service gives you detailed information about the certification potential of your building.

SUSTAINABLE DECONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

  • establishing an individual green building concept in the planning phase

  • creation and continuous updating of an integrated quality and safety management plan

  • fulfilment of project-related material requirements

  • documentation of relevant material properties according to the chosen certification

  • verification by Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and in-depth self-declarations

  • material control for maximum safety, from planning to certification

  • development and implementation of a disposal and recycling concept for on-site waste

  • evaluation and monitoring of the disposal company and method of disposal

  • updating and enforcement of certification guidelines on the construction site

DGNB BUILDING CERTIFICATION

The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) evaluates the life cycle of a building, from the production of raw materials to the recyclability of materials if the building is demolished.

The DGNB has developed various certification schemes for all types of buildings based on 36 criteria. These weighted criteria rate buildings as Certified (only for existing buildings), Silver, Gold or Platinum.

LEED BUILDING CERTIFICATION

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification system is world renowned. Initially developed in the USA, it was introduced to the market in 1998.

Participating builders and project managers must fulfil eight prerequisites that are given in five categories. There is then another option to earn extra credits, to a maximum of 110, for other relevant criteria. These credits will result in a Silver, Gold or Platinum rating.

BREEAM BUILDING CERTIFICATION

BREEAM, which stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method, is the oldest and most widely used certification system for green buildings. First conceived in 1990 in the UK, BREEAM awards a four-level quality seal based on a simple scoring system that covers eight evaluation categories. These criteria assess the edifice’s effect on the global, regional and local environment, as well as the materials’ influence on the interior architecture of the building.

BREEAM is used to address the construction phases, from planning and implementation to the building’s operation. The system has since been updated to include the project’s life cycle, and it has also introduced new mandatory criteria to re-evaluate the environmental impact of the building.

BNB BUILDING CERTIFICATION

The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development has devised a second German certification standard with BNB, which has been specially adapted for federal buildings. The criteria and underlying technical rules and standards are based on the DGNB system.

SYSTEM PRODUCT

THE BASIS OF YOUR GREEN BUILDING

Selecting optimal products for the INTERIOR FIT-OUT and building envelope of a project is always a major challenge – technically, functionally, and economically. In the pursuit of sustainability, a further component is essential: the fulfilment of ecological quality and target specifications.

As a manufacturer of FLOORS, CEILINGS, PARTITIONS,DOORS, LUMINAIRES and FACADES, Eftcg processes all materials and components of a building’s products directly. We use this level of integration to combine the ecological and technical requirements for our clients’ projects.

Through our practical experience and the variable challenges of green building projects, we continue to develop our services, in particular our system products such as the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products NORTEC raised floor and LMD metal ceilings.

We verify through ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS, test chamber measurements, and life cycle assessments. These provide detailed information regarding the building’s ecological material properties. This documentation also gives our users and builders the confidence that they can make informed decisions during the tender phase. With these sophisticated and adaptable system products, we make a decisive contribution to the success of your building project, in particular when pursuing CERTIFICATION according to LEED, DGNB, BREEAM and other certification systems.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS

Environmental product declarations give you comprehensive information about the environmental impact of Eftcg products. They answer all your questions about our basic and bulk parts, material properties, and emissions (e.g. VOC), as well as the ecological footprint, recyclability and reusability of our system products.

Environmental product declarations are a standardized data basis for architects, planners and auditors for the use in tenders, life cycle assessments and BUILDING CERTIFICATION according to LEED, DGNB, BNB and BREEAM.

All of Eftcg’s environmental product declarations are continuously updated and the collection of EPD is constantly expanded. All results are included in the further development of our products and production locations.

You can obtain in-depth self-declarations according to ISO 14021 for the product groups listed below. EPD verification according to ISO 14025 and EN 15804 is also available for select products at the downloads section:
